It is every girls dream to one day meet and fall in love with the love of her life! And when it happens, a love story is written. One of our favorite things of being wedding photographers is leaning how our couples met and fell in love. Each story is so unique and special, and helps us serve them in the best way possible! And now it is time to share our story with you. We want to share everything, from how we met in Las Vegas, to getting married, not just once, but twice, and everything in between!!!
PART 9: Our Wedding Day In Paradise
Waves crushing into the bay. Palm trees waving in the wind. Sunlight reflecting off the crystals hanging from the arch. My heart racing with each and every step. Flamingos wondering elegantly beside us. The sound of a violin and piano in the warm breeze.
After patiently waiting for this moment, for what felt like a thousand years. My mom and dad walked me down the aisle. Barefoot. Through the soft white sand. Douglas turned, seeing me. In my cinderella-princess wedding dress.
Our eyes met. Tears running down our cheeks. Smiling from ear to ear. And all eyes from our closest family and friends were on us, cheering on. We were so ready to start our fairytale, on the Happy Island (Aruba), in paradise. Together. Forever.
On September 26, 2012 something happened, something that I least expected. I found love. Luisa when I first laid my eyes on you, I saw one of the most beautiful women I have ever met.
When our eyes first met. I truly knew you were somebody special. My soulmate. That day changed my life completely. I never believed in love at first sight until I met you.
The most difficult part of our relationship was to being 5000miles and a 7 hour time difference apart.
Over the following days, weeks and months, our relationship grew in very rare and extraordinary ways through emails, text messages and video calls. A constant rollercoaster of emotions. From being excited to see you, and kiss your beautiful face. To having to leave you. Broken. Not knowing when we would see each other again.
But you always found a way to make me smile. Every goodbye was just a reminder of how strong our love is. It helped us to go through these difficult times. To never give up on each other. And it led us to today. To become husband and wife.
I promise to never give up on us.
I promise to always love you unconditionally.
“And by the authorities invested in me according to the laws in Aruba, I pronounce Douglas and Luisa, to be husband and wife.”
